Old Worlds, New Sounds

Old Worlds, New Sounds

Sunday 11 October 2026

A high-voltage classical adventure in the heart of South Bank

Join friendly faces on the Mystic Mountain bus as we spirit you away to QPAC for a stirring performance of classical music. Led by Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici, this concert opens with an overture by First Nations composer Christopher Sainsbury before Violinist Catherina Lee takes the spotlight in Bruch’s soaring Violin Concerto. Next, Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances bursts with folk rhythm and fire.

Bizet’s Carmen Suite brings irresistible melody, from the sultry Habanera to the swagger of Les Toréadors. Australian composer Holly Harrison also adds a jolt of the unexpected with Hi Vis, a groovy piece with plenty of bite.
