Away Trip FAQs
Have questions about our away tours? Explore the topics below, read the accessibility information or our main FAQs page, or get in touch and we’ll answer your query. No question is too big or small if it makes you confident to travel with us!
For all Australian Story Tours that include an overnight stay, for all guests based in the Sunshine Coast region — yes! We will collect you right from your home (or a similar location of your choice) and return you there when it’s time to say goodbye. You won’t need to make any separate transport arrangements to join our tours. We will advise you of your personal pick-up time in advance and one of our drivers will bring you to the group departure point ready to begin our journey together. There is no extra charge for this service.
For Day Trips or Part-Day Tours, convenient pick-up points close to parking and/or public transport facilities will be advertised. The bus will arrive to collect passengers at set times, and will return to the same places after the tour. Join us at one of these meeting points for a quick and efficient start to our journey, making the most of your day out.
Each tour has its own list of inclusions, carefully designed for that itinerary to balance ease and exploration. Transport, accommodation, activities, meals, and so on that have been planned for the whole group to enjoy together are always included, while most tours will also allow you to “free range” at times to make the most of your options for eating out or selecting activities. These interludes let you set your own pace for a while to enjoy the thrill of discovery. Please see the specific list of inclusions for the tour that interests you or enquire for further information.
If you want to, yes! All of our tours that include overnight stays are available for Single Occupancy or Twin Share travelers alike, so simply choose your option at the time of booking. If you would like to share a room, please book in conjunction with your partner/roommate so that we can link your bookings. There may be further room options available depending on the tour (for example, a double rather than twin bed arrangement for partners, or a family room for a trio of travelers) so do enquire about these for your tour if desired.
We handle all bookings personally, to ensure there can be no mix-ups from automated systems. To book, reach out to us by phone, email, or contact form, and let us know which tour(s) you would like to go on. We will let you know all the details we require to proceed with your booking, and will confirm your place once we have these on file. We will also let you know when payment is due, which depends on the tour type and distance to the departure date.
Australian Story Tours including an overnight stay will usually require a deposit to book (rather than payment upfront). The amount and time-frame for payments in advance varies by tour. We will clearly explain the details of all payments to be made at the time of your enquiry, and will confirm with you once your deposit has been received.
For tours including an overnight stay, payment in full is usually not required at time of booking. Instead, we will take a deposit, and make a request for further installments at a later time. The time-frame for this varies by tour and by distance from the departure date, so please make a specific enquiry to ensure you have the right information regarding your chosen tour.
